Agriculture

Prior to the Mine’s operations, the affected communities were known for their agrarian activities. Encouraging improved agriculture production was therefore critical to the sustainable development of the communities. The acquisition of the 28.5-acre farmland for the Resettlement community to establish an Oil Palm Plantation represents a key agricultural intervention the Foundation has undertaken.

The Resettlement community has acquired an additional 15-acre land to expand the farm of which 8 acres have been planted. This has necessitated the interest of other communities to undertaking a similar oil palm plantation project. The Foundation is therefore aiming to undertake further studies to assess the possibility of investing in large-scale Oil Palm plantation and its value chain as one of the key areas to promoting local economic development.

The Foundation is on course towards creation of sustainable value.

This vision is being realized through the discrete activities undertaken by the Foundation on a daily basis, with the support of our stakeholders.
